About Pauline Harrison

I was born in Old Coulsdon and moved to Caterham when I married 32 years ago. My father was born and raised in Purley after his family moved from Oxfordshire to Surrey in the late 1890’s. My mother was born and raised in Coulsdon, her family coming from Ramsgate, Horley and Nutfield.
I have seen many changes over the years in all of these areas, none more so than in the last ten years. I have always been interested in local history and joined the Bourne Society over 25 years ago.
My parents would tell me how much the area had changed over the years, and now I find myself doing the same with my children. Local Greetings Cards have enabled me to record those changes. Since starting producing these cards 18 months ago, The Smith & Western, The Village, Caterham (CAT 0709) has burnt down, The Harvester Public House, Old Coulsdon (OC 0702) has changed its name back to the Tudor Rose Public House, and Old Surrey Hounds Public House, Caterham (CAT 0834) has changed its appearance so much, it looks completely like a different pub! Already, this is proving to be history in the making.
I started Local Postcards in 2006 to sell surplus postcards and books I had accumulated over the years. I have been collecting postcards and books of the local area for many years and at times would purchase items I already had in my collection.
I had thought about producing my own postcards, but the outlay was too great. By producing greetings cards it gives me the opportunity to give a more personalised service, and a product that you can share with your friends and family.
Both of the Local Postcards and Local Greetings Cards websites have been set up by one of my sons, Dan Harrison. He's well-versed in website creation, so I leave all the technical stuff up to him!
