Church Lane was once the main coastal road with the present village not being built until Tudor times. St Nicholas Church and the Almshouses were on one side of the road with the School on the opposite side of the road.
Cricket was first played on the green in 1749. The Annual Village Fete and Donkey Derby takes place here on August Bank Holiday
The pond is a landmark on the edge of the green in Godstone, which during the 19century was used to water horses on this busy road.
Situated next to St Nicholas Church and St Mary’s Chapel in Church Lane, they were built in a Victorian Tudor style in 1872 in memory of Mrs Mabel Hunt’s daughter, who died at the age of sixteen. They include eight self contained houses as well as a wardens house.
Next to St Nicholas Church, is St Mary’s Chapel designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott at the same time as the St. Mary's Almshouses
St Nicholas Church was built in the13th century stands half a mile from the village of Godstone in Church Lane and is a Grade 1 listed building. The original village was around St Nicholas Church, now it is around Godstone Green and Pond both of which are conservation areas
